The future of social media

CATEGORY: , | Thursday, May 26, 2011

Social media is revolutionising the way we interact. From status updates about your everyday life on Facebook to opinionated tweets to the corporate face of LinkedIn, everyone is becoming reliant on these websites when managing their social calendar. We’ve all heard the story of Mark Zuckerberg, the young billionaire, internet entrepreneur and founder of Facebook. We all saw how MySpace was crushed by the power of a better idea. But where will the next trillion-making internet invention come from and what will it be? What is the future for social media? Here are a few ideas…

INFORMATION

First of all, media experts are predicting a further enhancement of the amount of information that will become available. More and more personal details will be exposed, and these will be used to enhance all social-media sites. And this won’t just be the knowledge that you use Muslim dating sites – it will go a lot further than this. Think of the Facebook places feature, and imagine if there was a site that tracked you wherever you were so that someone would know if you were busy before phoning you. This will transform the concept of privacy beyond any recognition.

OPINION

Reviews and opinions are already everywhere on the internet. But it is likely that in the future you will have even more freedom to express your opinions. There will be an option to do this ad give ratings on virtually everything on the internet, and social media will continue to be very comment, review and debate heavy.

SEARCH

Social Media will also begin to change the way search engines such as Google operate. Twitter comments and other social-networking content will begin to appear on Google searches. Also, when searching, engines will access your social-media information and target the order of the search results to your interests rather than Google PageRank. This will make finding what you want a lot easier.

MARKETING

Information from social networks will also start to change the way we are marketed to. The use of social network information to advertise and direct people to their markets of interest is something we've already seen a lot of. But this will become even more advanced as we begin to reveal more information. Who knows - we could have soon have a Minority Report style of advertising where you are personally traced and targeted when you enter a shop.

INTEGRATION

Having so many different networking channels can be complicated and irritating. Some predict that sooner or later one social network will come along and replace all of the others, integrating all of our lines of communication. If this does not happen, there will definitely be more advanced ways to integrate all your different channels.

Whether, the dating social networks of http://www.eharmony.co.uk/ or the corporate networksof LinkedIn, the social-media world is changing and changing fast. Who knows how much it might have developed in a few years time?

Standing Still Despite Criticisms Through SMART BRO’s Broadbandest Blowout

CATEGORY: , | Saturday, March 12, 2011
223
I looked obliquely from the glisten of oncoming headlights and turn my head clockwise and counterclockwise to stay awake. It’s quarter to 12 midnight when I checked my phone’s clock. I already felt tired, dizzy and sleepy but managed to open my eyes because something was bothering me inside. Those insulting words from the mouth of one my neighbors a while ago caused me emotional attacks and stressed me that much, up to this hour. I was hurt and pissed off when he spread such gossip to our community that even I am once a topnotch student in school and an Electronics Engineering Technology graduate, all these were useless because he described me as a lazy and unemployed individual in the real world. He even seconded that I am also a stubborn person because I always resign from the jobs I got hired.

Anyways, I heard those harsh insults against me as I walked away from the store holding a plastic of soda. I am starting to hate that neighbor who criticized and insulted me in front of others! Anger was building me inside together with frustrations and hatred but in the end I still remained silent as I passed by the boulevard.

So at this point, revenge is what my mind speaks because I am so mad of what he alleged. But seeing and understanding the different angles on the situation, I come to realize not to do so, because it will only get worse if I will pursue vengeance. And I guess that person lacks empathy training in his life because he doesn’t even understand the feelings of others and to treat people with amiability. I remember one of my life principles that centers on how to handle criticisms - if criticisms are true, always learn from them but if criticisms are false, simply ignore them. Feeling pain is a huge thing, but retaliation often backfires.

So I decided to neglect all those words he uttered in contrary to me because I know in myself those were untrue and that I am happily earning online even I rent a computer in an internet café. But that was before, now I am so blissful because I already have the Lenovo net book of my brother that was laid away in a pawnshop few months ago. Actually I used my savings to get it and this would be the start of my new journey - making money online. But to do this, to have my personal broadband connection is a must.

Gaiety is what I felt when I knew that SMART Company has this SMART BRO Unlimited Home Broadband Plan 999 or 1995. What astonished me on this kind of plan are the amazing freebies included such as:

[ / ] Free All-In-One HP Printer – I am fun of reading books. For sure I will use this device to print and read e-books online. Other than that I will also make use of what I have ascertained way back in my high school years when I joined Student Technologist and Entrepreneur of the Philippines. Yes! I am planning to build a little printing business. This soon-to-be printing business will be managed by me and my family,

[ / ] FREE Call & Texts with SMART Gold Lite Plan 300 for 6months subscription – This will be the bridge for me to communicate with my friends and my loved ones through texting and calling. Other than that, I will also lend this freebie to my mother for her to communicate her brothers and sisters. Last December I was touched when I saw her almost crying after seeing her youngest brother who visited here all the way from Davao. Actually it was their very first reunion after 20 years. And until now, I can’t imagine how they able to survive by not seeing each other for that long period of time, and

[ / ] Free 1 month broadband subscription – This would be the top reason, or I say my most need in order for me to do my online job and tasks. As a blogger, through this I could manage and update my blogs, read my e-mails, check my social networking sites, play music videos on Youtube and play online games. On the other hand, my other siblings will take advantage of this through online chatting and also playing online games.

That’s how generous SMART is! With a coincidence, no doubt that my brother loves SMART BRO because when I handed the laptop, I saw the SMART BRO logo when I clicked the start option. Indeed, SMART BRO will surely provide a consistent surf speed and stable signal. Tested and proven as what my friends told me.

TRUTH REVELATIONS

It’s not really my intention to resign from my work as a call center agent before but it’s the only option for me to escape work and summon my hometown to settle the said family conflict. And about the family conflict, it’s a private matter.

So at this moment, I am hoping that If ever time will permit and a friend of mine in the neighborhood will approach me and interrogate me if the said gossip is true, then that would be the time that I will disclose the truth that I am working online and I am not sluggish and inflexible person.

To those who are uninformed, relish the astounding freebies (Free All-In-One HP Printer, FREE Call & Texts with SMART Gold Lite Plan 300 for 6months subscription and Free 1 month broadband subscription) included on being a SMART BRO Unlimited Home Broadband Plan 999 or 1995 subscriber! TGIS: 3 Super Reasons Why I Am Super Thankful It’s Saturday/Sunday!

Thanks God, its Friday! Tomorrow will be weekends, a time to relax, to bond, to enjoy and to achieve! - Jhiegzh

I always look forward every weekends for I believe every weekends are amazing!
Below are my Top 3 super reasons why I am super thankful its Saturday or Sunday:

First reason: Its bonding time with my friends.

          a. Bonding time with my Bodjackers ( high school classmates )
From left to right (above->down): Soi, Jelo, Junmer, Sandy, Paking, Me, Roxette, Mamu, Mariz and Tipya

Most of us bodjackers are still college students from different universities in Cebu, Bacolod, and Dumaguete but despite of our hectic schedules, we still find time to reunite again by contacting each other every weekends specially to those Bodjackers who went home. Actually our bonding moment always fall every Saturday afternoon at 2p.m. in the Gaisano Mall and Center Mall.

From left-right: Desiree and her daughter, Sandra, Mamu, Junmer, Mariz., Tipya and Me
Even most of us age 19 years old and above, still we sometimes have the attitude of being childish but not to the extent. We are absolute frugal or I say thrifty. Last Saturday we just walked Center Mall, approximately a half kilometer away from Gaisano Mall just to eat fishballs and tempura and after that we just took pictures of ourselves while we are on the football field.

99 as my score!

Anyways, what makes bodjackers unique is that we all love music. In short we all love singing specially me. Since I was young, music has been the creative forte of my life. I can be sure that the songs I learn now will be forever recorded in my mind's memory bank, same with my bodjackers. Music impacts my heart over and over again. Any kind of music, I always look forward, its message to put across.

The last weekend, I bonded with them, we went for a videoke in Gaisano Mall and I sang "Greatest Love Of All". I did doble-kara with the song, and all were laughing out loud. But hey! I got 99 as my score...

          b. Bonding time with my Wave 31 friends
From left-right: Me, Regina, Mommy Ems, Kate, Cham, Jaja (lady in red stripes)

In the absence of my Bodjackers, I will be with my Wave 31 friends every Saturday afternoon. Actually Wave 31 friends, are my workmates way back when I worked as a call center agent. Even though I already resigned there, still we manage to communicate and bond again in our free time which is Saturday too

What we do that day is watch movies. Yeah! We do movie marathon. We enjoy the thrill of a mystery, or awesome photography being astounded by special effects and wise dialogue that made us laugh and cry with the characters of the film. After we finished watching, we always share the lessons we've learned from the movie. I remember, when we watched "Hachiko: A Dog's Story", all of us cried. Then all of a sudden, we realized that the lesson we've learned from a movie must be base more on the emotions we felt because through this, it showed us the reality of life and movies help to tell us who we are.

Second reason: Its bonding time with my family specially to my cute niece.

My cute little angel, my niece - Niña Gracie

Every Saturdays and Sundays is actually our family bonding. I am glad that last 2009, I have my very first niece namely Niña Gracie, a daughter of my sister. I really love this little cutie because she can easily learn and imitate what you tell her. That is why my family is very careful in throwing words inside the house when Niña is present. In the absence of my sister, I am fun of changing her diapers. I always love to kiss and hug her which makes her cry sometimes.

And when the night comes, when Niña is already asleep, I together with my mother and sister always have our midnight snack while watching television. We really love watching "The Bottomline" every Saturday night, because most of my family members love to debate, to argue, to defend his or her point of views.

Third reason: Its time to achieve Christian wholeness.

Me in front of our church
Every Sunday I always want to achieve my Christian wholeness through fulfilling my Sunday's obligation together with my mother who is a member of "Crusaders of the Holy Face of Jesus". Asking God to help me grow spiritually will be the most life-changing thing I ever do.

With my very own observation in today's society, it is difficult to keep the spiritual attention of people specially those young ones because the world itself provides so many distractions such as money, drugs, sex, fashion and many more that will turn into obsessions sooner or later.

But I believe that the church has something to offer to youth and people and listening the words of God every Sunday is the first step. Because listening the words of God will demolish your negative thoughts and build your faith to Him.

So, after the mass I also find time to go to the prayer room which is a quiet place to be alone with God. I try to contemplate about whether there is any sin that I have not confessed to Him. Yes! Every Sunday, I always do this - confession. I know I have done something wrong but I am ready to confess anytime.

I know somehow that it is not easy for some people to confess their faults. In fact many tend to make excuses for the sins they have committed. True confession needs to be more specific in nature. And it has to be followed by reformation.

That is why every time I confess my sins, I always see to it, that I will not repeat the faults I did in my past even in a tempting period. Because I stand, that if no change is made in the life after confession, it is not a genuine confession!

With all these three reasons I stated above, I realized something...When we are physically fit, we become more alert mentally and everything that directly affects our spiritual life.

Thanks Batang Yagit, for this marvelous contest.

Since I already have my self-hosted blog, I decided to change my blog concepts here. My articles would be personal that will center my experiences and daily routines. And from now on I will also be making polls. I will be asking questions that actually the products of my curiosity on things as well as on what I have observed in my surroundings. The poll results will be somehow use for my articles on my other blog that gathers information about hot-button issues.

P.S.
Hope you will support my new self-hosted blog "Opinyoneyted"...
God Bless! And Happy Blogging!

To share your point of views on a certain hot button issue is what inspired to arrive on my own domain name, one of the blessing I received with this blogging thingy. I actually named it from the pronunciation of the word opinionated.

I am now managing a free domain blog as well as a self-hosted blog. As a newbie, I am still exploring the new environment for its quite challenging on my part. I admit I don't have that enough knowledge about this PHP and Javascript, and using FTP client which is use to upload the files in case if you encounter problems when downloading files from the server.  And  for these past few months, I also felt hard implementing themes as well plugins which frustrate me a lot. These are just some of the basics of WP, that I, myself is a must to know.

See the website here

That's why until now, my site is not that fully furnished with contents and plugins. To consider my  situation that I don't own a personal computer, I just decided to focus more on writing my posts than to be problematic on the physical view of my site.
Hope you'll still support my new blog as what you did to my blog Something To Brood Over.

Blessings Back To Back

As what they say "Success is one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration". Looking on different angles of this term "success", as an ordinary individual I believe that one factor to become successful is hard work. Anyway, what's the use of your intelligence or your education if you don't work hard to achieve your goals in life? So for me, I stand that hard work is the key to success, because education itself will not make you auspicious unless you work hard.

So far, because of my hard work in blogging, I am blessed with different things this year as well as December last year. These blessings came unexpectedly for I never envisage to have these.

First blessing on the list was the 1 year domain and a lifetime web hosting I got last December, 2010 on Jehzlau's writing contest online. You read it right, my entry Shocking Truth Behind Zest Air Philippines made it to the qualified entries. I am happy that I made it to the Top 24, knowing that I scribbled and submitted my entry few minutes before the deadline.

But somehow until now, I am still looking for a theme that will suit to my new blog concept because I cannot start to write something if I am not satisfied with the look of my new blog.

Second blessing was the Cacao chocolates from Candy Corner when my entry A Sweet Surprise made it to the Top 4 winners on Batang Yagit's contest. These chocolates really taste good and no doubt my family loves it when I shared this box of chocolates with them.

Third blessing was being nominated and became a finalist to The Annual Kalsada Blog Awards. My post No One is 100% Free made it to the finals on the Best Post of the Year category. Anyways, you can still vote my entry "Jigs - No One is 100 Free" under Best Post of the Year category until January 23 (Sunday), 9PM. To vote, just click here

As of January 18, 2010 - I am so thankful to my avid readers and friends who voted me because my post got the highest votes on Taba 2010 - Partial Results under Best Post of the Year category.

And the last blessing I got as of today was to get an unexpected and shocking result when I checked the PR of my blog Something To Brood Over. I can't believe I got PR4 knowing that my blog is not that old to have this high page rank. As a matter of fact, my blog is still 9 months old and I am not an active blogger to scribble new blog post everyday. As a whole, this is truly unexpected and indeed a God's blessing!

So with all these blessings I received, I pondered that you really need to be a hardworking person when you want to achieve success because through hard work plus faith with God make a good combination to make the improbable ostensible and  unattainable possible.  Remember, everything happens for a reason. So definitely, its normal that in your life's pilgrimage you'll experience failures because these are the freestanding columns of success. They bequeath you an opportunity to become aware of your weak points so that you will invariably strive to improve yourself the next time.

Being a Finalist

The Annual Kalsada Blog Awards - A total of 12 blog posts made it through as finalists under Best Post of the Year category for the The Annual Kalsada Blog Awards.

Fortunately, I was opportune to emerge my post No One is 100% Free as one of the finalists. In determining the top winner, the result is base on the voting system shown on this site (click here). I am proud that my post was among the top rated ones in the finals. The post generally portrays on how I look the different angles of this contradictory term "freedom".

As of now, I need your full support through voting my entry No One is 100% Free as Best Post of the Year. To vote, go to this site (click here) and choose "Jigs - No One is 100% Free" under Best Post of the Year category then click vote. Voting polls will be close on January 23, 2010 - 9PM.

Furthermore, I want to take this opportunity to say thanks to the people who voted me already. Guys keep your spirit alive and never look down to yourself.

Anyway, win or lose, I extremely proud that I made it to the finals and got the highest nominations under The Best Post of the Year category. (see the results here).

I always pretend to be happy...I talked a lot, laughing out loud so that nobody would know what's really inside in me...

But at the end of the day, I always find myself all ALONE, encountering  the crucial truth, that I am hurting too much inside and not even a million laughter can take it away...

My revision of a text message, I received from a friend of mine!

People's Park Adventure

Miniatures are just some of the things you can see in San Carlos City People's Park. If you are a nature lover, then this place suits your interest.

While in the middle of strolling People's Park, I have seen a statue of a unicorn animal which truly amazed me. I find it so very attractive. Actually its a mini pool and in the center was the unicorn statue but it seems the water evaporated. (",?
Next, I saw a bamboo (plant or tree?), a meter away from the unicorn statue. It was surrounded by bamboo's stems served as its fences. The bamboo was 50 centimeters taller than me.
After that I immediately went to the seashore. In there I was accompanied by my friend staring the blue colored sea while having conversation. The view was very relaxing.
Then, I saw this train in the People's Park, a meter away from the seashore. I cannot estimate how old the train was knowing it was repainted. Somehow it was colorful though thats why I requested my friend to took a picture of me and the train.
Finally I went to the watch tower wherein i viewed the Sipaway Island. It was so nice as I was gazing the blue beach horizon looking for pump boats dissipated in a distance.
Anyways, I went home with a smile painted on my face because somehow staying at People's Park and viewing its cool environment lessen the things I thought on that day. As indicated in my other post related to this, visiting People's Park is one of my escape when I have problems.
